Women EuroLeague Final 8
Dag 1 --
Als iedereen wel verdiende goede nacht rust in is gegaan en in de rem slaap al verkeren .. en sweeeeeeet dreams ... al in de gang is gezet ...... is het hier in onze kikkerlandje de nacht is ingegaan.
We weten dat er zo iets van 4 uur tijds verschil is met Nederland en Ekaterinburg.
Daarom was dan ook de eerste wedstrijd van deze Final 8 al zo vroeg al om 10.00h
Nederlandse tijd waar dus plaatselijk 14.00h was.
Dan was daar de lege zaal in Yeeekaterinburg waar in de
Groep A ... Poulesss Desss Dooooooodssss .....
waar de 3 Turkse teams elkaar dan uit mag moorden waar dan Spartak Moscow de lachende derde kan zijn. Het was dan ook dat de runner up .. de verliezend finalist van verleden jaar ... ook hier in Yeeeeeeekaterinburg ... Fenerbahce Istanbul tegen Kayseri Kaski Spor die op het parket verschenen.
Wedstrijd was dan ook vroeg in de middag daar en iedereen moest wennen aan die tijds stip waar door de score verloop dan moeizaam op gang kwam en on nodige fouten veel waren.
15 - 11 was dan de eerste kwart voor Fenerbahce.
De meiden van coach Ayhan Avci die moesten wennen aan de ambiance en misten veel onder de borden
waar Veremeyenka en Ivana Matovic ..... wie anders dan zij die al veel van dit soort wedstrijden heeft gespeeld lieten Sanders en Little niet in spel komen waar coach Ayhan Avci moets zoeken naar de form van zijn meiden waar de spel maker Nouria Martinez wel over eind bleef.
De tweede kwart is dan ook voor Kaski Spor met 14 - 13 waar dus beide ploegen warm moesten draaien en het ritme niet konden vinden waar hard werd verdedigd en veel fouten werden gefloten.
Dit zegt dan ook dat 28 - 25 de rust was daar voor Fenerbahce.
Zou zeggen ... lage score verloop ... waar dus beide teams en vooral Fenerbahce niet in spel kwamen en dat was de verdienste van coach Ayhan Avci die wist slim gebruik te maken van de zwakke kanten van Fenerbahce ........... zijn traag op de voeten in de defens van af de kop van de bucket in een tegen een spelletjes en de pick and rolss .. als Biberzycka niet op schot is van ver af ... dan moeten Angeeeeeeeeeeel en Cappie ... meer effort verrichten en dat vergt veel energy.
Dan is daar toch de ervarenheid van team van Fenerbahce die na de rust de ervaring deed spreken en door Angel en Pondexter ... die hard werden in de spel en waar Kaski Spor wel dicht bij beleef door de spel maker Nouria Martinez en toch tegen het einde van de derde kwart met 9 punten marge 47 - 38 voor Fenerbahce de laatste kwart in gingen en dus is de kwart voor Fenerbahce met 19 - 13.
Dat is dan vaker dit soort wedstrijden spelen en dus de ervaring mee pakken.
Die marge bleef en de wedstrijd werd ook harder waar Kaski ... de kansen verprutste die zij kreeg waar door toch Little veel snelle ballen misste .... bal over de middel lijn .. hup schot .... bal weg en geen rebound.
dat is niks en coach Ayhan Avci on waardig waar zij toch naar de bank ging.
Dan in de 2 an 3 min. in de begin van de vierde kwart is dus Kaski die presst ... zo ken ik coach Ayhan Avci dan ook en Kaski komt terug tot 5 punten waar 49 - 44 is voor Fenerbahce.
Zo als hier boven vaak vermeld ...... dan is daar ook de spelverdeler van naam en faam .... Birsel Vardarli die haar team op sleep touw neemt en Angeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel ............ nog een stap harder maakt en de bengel van den buurt ... Cappie Pondexter dan onvermoeibaar dan door zet is daar de slag in het midden van deze laatste kwart voor Fenerbahce zien we 57 - 46.
Dan controlerend ging fenerbahce de laatste minuuten in waar Kaski Spor dan terug kwam in deze wedstrijd met nog 1.50 sec. te gaan 62 - 56 was voor Fenerbahce ... maar zo als gezegd dat Little die ging niet zo slim om met die kansen ..... nu ook en die ballen die zij kreeg mistte zij dan ook en dan was het de eerste wedstrijd dan voor Fenerbahce in deze Final 8 van Women EuroLeague en is de kop er af waar fenerbahce wint van Kayseri Kaski Spor met 64 - 58.
Met deze overwinning is de reeks van Fenerbahce Istanbul gestegen naar 15 x ongeslagen in Europees verband.
Morgen is dan de El Classsicooooooooooooooooo ... der Turken op het programma
Fenerbahce Istanbul tegen Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul 17.30h Ned. tijd.
Waar vorige week de laatste comp. wed. in en tegen Galatasary werd verloren met 3 punten .. is dus de thuis voordeel dan voor Galatasaray .... en effe met voetball ..... de andere El Classsicoooooooo ... was ook gisteren op Zondag avond waar veel kaarten werd getrokken en 1- 0 werd gewonnen door Galatasaray waar Wesley Snijder 1- 0 maakte.
Dussssssssssss ..... morgen na middag is de stoel vrij voor El Classicooooooooooo ...... daar in Yeeeeekaterinburg.

Turning Point: Trailing 38-36 in the third quarter, Fenerbahce took control of the contest by finishing the period with an 11-0 run, holding Kayseri scoreless for over four minutes.
Stats Don't Lie: Fenerbahce shut down Kayseri's three main offensive threats, with Camille Little, Lara Sanders and Tanisha Wright shooting a combined 27% from the field.
Game Heroes: Isabelle Yacoubou was a real handful under the basket to claim an efficient 11 points and while Angel McCoughtry didn't have her most productive night, she still claimed a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Fenerbahce got off to a winning start at the EuroLeague Women Final Eight in Ekaterinburg after riding to a 64-58 Group A win against fellow Turkish side Kayseri Kaski spor to extend their unbeaten record in Europe to 15 games.
Arriving back at the scene of their previous EuroLeague Women defeat - last year's final - Fenerbahce had to work hard to see off a resilient Kayseri side making their Final Eight debut.
That left head-coach Roberto Iniguez simply relieved to have taken a victory, admitting his team were not at their best.
"We have seen in recent years that every first game is very difficult," he explained.
"Some of the players feel a lot of stress about this, but eventually I recognised my team both in offence and defence during the third quarter.
"I am just happy to have won the game and I know we can play better and especially with an improved three-point shooting percentage because 1-of-15 was not normal for us."
Both teams struggled to find any rhythm during the early exchanges, with Italian forward Sabrina Cinili taking the honour of scoring the first ever basket for Kayseri at the EuroLeague Women Finals.
The opening contenders for the tournament highlights reel soon emerged as Isabelle Yacoubou andNuria Martinez exchanged ‘and-1' plays at opposite ends of the court.
Fenerbahce initially edged 15-11 ahead, but there was nothing to separate the teams as Tanisha Wright levelled the game at 23 before Ivana Matovic helped put Fenerbahce back ahead 28-25 at half-time with ten points off the bench.
When the action resumed, Kayseri continued their aggressive approach and managed to get themselves two points in front.
However, Fenerbahce came alive and locked down their opponents during the remainder of the third quarter to move 47-38 ahead.
When Polish star Agnieszka Bibryzycka scored a spin-move to the basket to make it 55-44, Kayseri never looked likely to bridge the gap and so it proved, despite the best efforts of Martinez.
The Spaniard sunk a triple to reduce the damage to 57-51 with four minutes left, but it was to be in vain. The guard finished with an excellent 19 points for the losing team

Turning Point: The wind was in the sails of Sparta&K after they wiped out a 14-point second-half deficit, but successive baseline jump-shots from either side of the basket by Sebnem Kimyacioglu and Sancho Lyttle, got Galatasary back in the ascendency with just over two minutes left on the clock as they crucially made it a three-possession game.
Stats Don't Lie: Sparta&K have now lost all four games this season when they have been behind at half-time. Also 19 turnovers hurt Sparta&K, but once again the strength of Galatasaray in taking great care of the basketball proved to be vital as they only spilled it 11 times.
Game Heroes: Sancho Lyttle showed why she was voted FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year and was handed her award before tip-off with a typically assured and eye-catching 18 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Isil Alben also took care of business towards the end of the game from the point-guard spot at both ends of the floor.
Galatasaray odeabank went some way to burying their disappointment of drawing a blank at theEuroLeague Women Final Eight last year by opening this year's campaign in Ekaterinburg with a 68-61success against Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje.
However, it was far from straightforward for the Turkish League regular season winners as Sparta&K rallied from 14 points behind after the break to level the scores and set up a nail-biting finale.
While Sparta&K weren't able to push on and take victory, their 15-point leading scorer Sonja Petrovic insisted the team could feel proud despite having to stomach an opening day defeat.
"Once again we proved we are definitely a team with real heart and we can be proud," she mused.
"However, they just had so many experienced players who make good decisions from good positions.
"Isil Alben showed her quality and the difference by getting her team-mates good shots and not just any kind of shot.
"Of course we have regrets because we came so close, but now we move on."
Sparta&K were always playing catch-up after starting slowly and falling 22-10 behind, with Galatasaray finding an offensive groove from the outset.
That theme continued and when they ahead 48-34 after the midway point of the game, it looked like the Turkish team would coast to a comfortable win.
Sparta&K had other ideas, especially when Evgenia Belyakovanailed a triple to level matters and complete a fine 22-8 run.
But, the additional experience and composure of Galatasaray down the stretch proved to be the difference as they made the big plays in crunch time

Wat was er dan over voor de Groep B
The Champ die kwam voor hun fans op de parket en liet geen gras over groeien waar voor zij nog steeds The Champ zijn.
In de eerste kwart bleef de team van Nadezhda Orenburg ............ je weet wel ... Nadezhda ..... Hope ...in Russisch .. die hoop was er wel voor de team van coach George Dikeoulakos in de eerste kwart waar
die 16 - 15 voor The Champ was.
Dan is de maat vol voor Diana Taurassie en zij schakelt over naar de over drive en zet het in de 8 `e versnelling als we kijken naar de rust stand 39 - 24 voor The Champ en van die 39 punten was er
de eerste 5 schooten raak voor Taurassie en daar mee zagen we dat UMMC Ekaterinburg deze kwart won met 23 - 9 en de rest is dan makkie waar we zien dat de derde kwart 21 - 14 is voor The Champ en de laatste kwart dan ook galary play is en de nodige minuten gemaakt werden en we zagen dat 20 - 9
de laatste kwart voor The Champ was en zo wint UMMC Ekaterinburg met 80 - 47 en laat geen grassssszzz over groeien wat de intenties zijn hier.

Turning Point: Trailing 17-16 early in the second quarter, UMMC recorded a devastating 12-0 run sparked by what was to be a three-point barrage by Diana Taurasi.
Stats Don't Lie: UMMC dominated in most categories, but the standout area was on the boards, where they thoroughly overrun their opponents 48-26 on the glass.
Game Heroes: Taurasi made her first five shots from long-range and finished with 17 points. Candace Parker and Sandrine Gruda were scintillating in the paint and combined for 26 points and 17 rebounds.
Reigning champions UMMC Ekaterinburg showed they are in no mood to relinquish their coveted EuroLeague Women title after opening up their account with a breathtaking 80-47 success against Final Eight newcomers Nadezhda Orenburg.
The superior ball movement of the host club gave them some great looks and combined with the trademark defence on which last year's success was built, they were far too strong all over the court.
The win was savoured by EuroLeague Women legend Ann Wauters, who had a very different experience when drawing a blank with Galatasary last year.
"It's always great to start with a win and we really needed to bring this kind of performance to open up the tournament," said Wauters.
"We have been waiting to play this game for some time and we needed to test ourselves, we appreciate it is only one game.
"Last year wasn't a very good memory for me and that is why it was so enjoyable for me personally."
With a large travelling support behind them, Nadezhda supporters had actually found plenty to cheer about during a pulsating and high-octane first quarter, which witnessed them take a 15-13 lead.
However, a three-ball by Taurasi ended the scoring for the opening period and was very much a sign of things to come.
While Nadezhda briefly got their noses in front again, it was to be one-way traffic for the remainder of the game as they wilted under the perimeter bombardment of Taurasi and inside-play of Gruda and Parker.
Once UMMC opened up a double-figure lead they began to ease their way quickly out of sight, and when the energetic Deanna Nolan made it 50-30 during the third quarter, they were able to engage cruise control until the final buzzer sounded.
Meanwhile Nadezhda head-coach,George Dikeoulakos, added that his team were always looking past their difficult opening fixture.
He said, "We went to win, but we had our minds on the next two games and had to think about saving some energy.
"We lost our minds in the second quarter and UMMC played a level and maybe even several levels higher."
Dewanna Bonner had 16 points and seven rebounds for the losing team.

De laatste wedstrijd van de eerste dag was die tussen Praag en Bourges.
Je weet wel de team van onze trots Chaitilla van Grinsven die wel mee deed weer en onze trots is
zij kreeg maar 4 min. en zij pakte 1 x rebound en maakte 2 punten.
Daar was alle hek van de dam waar Praag meteen van leer trok en liet merken waar hun intenties waren.
Beide ploegen bleven dicht bij elkaar en de eerste kwart is dan 12 - 11 voor Praag en de tweede kwart is dan het zelfde al de eerste kwart waar niet veel verschillen waren tussen de teams.
Het was dan ook 15 - 15 gelijk dus met 1 punt verschil 27 - 26 de rust in gingen daar in Yeeeeeeeeekaterinburg.
Derde periode is dan wel voor Bourges die wat opleving hadden en de derde kwart wonnen met
17 - 10 en is dus alles voor de laatste kwart bewaard.
Daar in was Praag coooooooooooooooooooool bloedig ........ of was het booooooooelll kloedig ......
Toch ..... Meneer Kaktus en Kweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet .. Nie ........
Als we kijken dat alleen Miyem maar boven 10 punten marge komt ... zij had 18 punten 9 reb.
en de rest bij Bourges kwam er niet boven 10 punten marge uit.
Dat waren bij Praag wat meer naast Kia Vaughn en zo trok dan Praag dan deze wedstrijd naar zich toe
en de vierde kwart won met 19 - 8.
Dat is een harde klap voor Bourges ... waar al die namen ... niet voor kwamen in deze kwart en dan verlies je hard en ga je af naar buiten via de zij deur toch ... koekje van eigen deeg noemen ze dat en zo won
dan Praag met 56 - 51 van Bourges en is dus de eerste verrrasinggggggggggggg .. van Final 8 daar.

Turning Point: The 12-5 run in the final quarter which got Prague back on level terms was decisive. When Bourges still had the chance to potentially force overtime, Kia Vaughn grabbed a precious offensive rebound.
Stats Don't Lie: ZVVZ USK Prague won't win many games with a meagre 32.3% from the floor, but 15 offensive rebounds proved to be the real gold dust in a tight encounter. It was also the case of the winning team, having arrived in Ekaterinburg with the worst rebounding record of all eight teams, winning this particular duel on the glass 40-31.
Game Hero: Vaughn chose the perfect time to have her best performance of the season with a fine double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds.
ZVVZ USK Prague racked up an historic first EuroLeague Women Final Eight success after coming back from behind to pip Tango Bourges 56-51 and hand a perfect birthday gift to head-coachNatalia Hejkova.
Celebrating her landmark 60th birthday, the play-caller described the victory as the perfect gift and was thrilled after the final buzzer, praising her players for their defence, smart decision-making and work on the boards.
Hejkova handed much of the credit to Kia Vaughn who sat alongside her post-game aand was just as delighted with how things panned out.
"I am excited about being at the Final Eight and I wanted to show that I was here," commented Vaughn.
She then continued by adding, "Bourges are so tough because they are huge, aggressive and a strong team.
"This [win] gives us big confidence for the rest of the tournament to know that if we go down in a game, we have the confidence to come back."
Having gained the upper hand at 17-11 early in the second quarter, Prague lost their impetus and by the time the final quarter had arrived, a basket by the impressive Endene Miyem had put Bourges 45-38 ahead.
However, Prague shifted up a gear defensively and began a rescue mission which ultimately ended in a potentially priceless win, as a number of different players all made big shots during the closing minutes.
Miyem had 18 points for Bourges and Johannah Leedham had a creditable nine points, seven rebounds and four assists on her return from injury

Nog maals de tijden hier boven ... plaatselijke tijden .... Yeeeeeeeeekaterinburg tijden dus.
Dus is het erg laat .... in Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekaterinburg zijn ze toe aan de 3 `e rem slaap en de vierde drooom van de nacht daar ... voor de late door zakkers in den bar der hotel die nacht mustje in nemen is het voor mij ook ... Goooood Night .... Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekaterinburg.
