Surfinggg ... The Golden Boy Of Lithuania

Het is surfinggggggggggggggggggg ....... en dat weten we ook.

Waar het nieuws mij effe stil deed staan in de tijd .... waar ik op de web site van
Fiba Europe las dat The Golden Boy of Lithuania ...... Sarunas Jasikevicius  ... basketball

The info below is from the web site of

SARAS TO CALL IT A DAY, TURN TO COACHING

Lithuanian legend Sarunas Jasikevicius is to terminate his illustrious playing career and join the Zalgiris Kaunas coaching staff, television station LNK reported on Tuesday evening.
The report was instantly reproduced by every single media outlet in Lithuania and took sports media across Europe by storm, an indication of the 38-year-old former guard's immense popularity around the continent.
Jasikevicius is to commence his new career as an assistant to Zalgiris head coach Gintaras Krapikas, who made the transition from player to coach in the same way, 14 years ago.
The Kaunas club is yet to officially confirm the news as, according to LNK, the agreement between the two parties is only verbal, at least at this stage.

"No comment. There can be no comment on something that has not been officially announced by the club," Zalgiris general managerPaulius Motiejūnas told the lrytas.lt news site.
Jasikevicius, who joined his home-town club for the first time in his career last summer and helped them retain their LKL title, was cagey the last time he talked publicly about his future, at the end of the finals, in June.
"I am not thinking about next season," the legendary point guard had said, holding the first LKL trophy of his career in his hands.
"Currently, the priority is to relax, recover, and then I can start thinking about what next season holds."

The list of trophies Jasikevicius has conquered during a professional career that spans three decades is immense.
At EuroBasket 2003 in Sweden, he averaged 14 points and an amazing 8.2 assists per game and stepped on the top of the podium for the first time in the post-USSR history of his beloved Lithuanian national team, while also walking away with the MVP trophy.
Jasikevicius also hung the bronze medal around his neck at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and EuroBasket 2007.
At club level, the 'Golden Boy' of Lithuanian basketball has possibly collected as much silverware as any European player.

He has won the Euroleague title on four occasions, with FC BarcelonaMaccabi Tel Aviv (twice) andPanathinaikos, while he was named on the All-Euroleague Team two times, earned Final Four MVP honours in 2005 and was included in the Euroleague 2001-10 All-Decade Team.
The legendary point also has in his collection numerous national league and cup titles from every single European country he played in, including Slovenia, Spain, Greece and Turkey.
In fact the only stretch of his career after 1999 in which Jasikevicius did not win any titles came at the mid-point of the previous decade, when he spent two seasons in the NBA, with the Indiana Pacers.
Jasikevicius has taken part in four consecutive Olympics and retired from the national team following the London Games, in 2012.
