Becky Hammon to retire after the end of WNBA season

San Antonio Stars has announced that 37 year old guard Becky Hammon will retire after this season.Hammon has spent half of her WNBA career in New York with the Liberty and the other half in San Antonio with the Stars.She’s seventh overall in WNBA scoring with 5756 points. Over her career she’s currently averaging 13.1 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game.
In WNBA’s 15th season Hammon was named of the top 15 All Time WNBA players.Hammon spurred plenty of controversy in 2008 when she decided to accept Russian citizenship in order to play in the Olympic games – she won bronze with the Russians. A year later she won silver in EuroBasket Women 2009.
Over her European career Hammon has played in Italy for Trentino Rovereto Basket, in Spain for Rivas Ecopolis and Ros Casares and in Russia for CSKA Moscow, Nadezhda Orenburg and Sparta&K Vidnoje. She hasn’t won any major title in European Club competitions.
