Natasa Kovacevic

The information below is from the web site off

My special thanks for the use off the information and the photo`s

Uni Gyor and Crvena Zvezda played a friendly in Belgrade honoring Natasa Kovacevic

Using their bye week in EuroLeague Women, Hungarian club Uni Gyor set up a game in Belgrade against the local club Crvena Zvezda, honoring 19 year old Serbian Natasa Kovacevic, who had her leg amputated.Kovacevic played for Crvena Zvezda prior to joining Uni Gyor this summer and getting in the tragic bus crash.
She was honored before the game – Uni Gyor’s president Fűzy András and Crvena Zvezda’s former player Zorica Đurković presented her with the respective team jerseys. Then Uni Gyor players presented her with the stuffed animals that Gyor fans threw on the court in their first game of the season against UMMC Ekaterinburg.Overcome with emotion Kovacevic couldn’t address the crowd, so a family friend read a statement in her behalf.
“I want to thank everyone who came. This is not a game for me, this is a game to honor the sport, especially women and the education that it provides to us. This is a match to commemorate the tragedy and honor Peter Tabodi, Akos Fuzy and their families. This is a game that does not mean the end but a new beginning. This is a game that should remind us how happy we are for what we have. People often ask me where I got the power, but in fact nothing has changed. Only the rules of the game called life are different. And the strength is back where it was before. Strength is my mother, my father, my brother and my friends most of whom I met on the floor. My message to today’s event is simple: Play sports! Amateur or professional, all the same. The point is that you will come out of it much stronger than you were when you started.”
Uni Gyor won the game 73-71.
