Turkish Airlines EuroLeague




Haast zouden we vergeten dat er ook basketball gespeeld werd vlak onder
onze grenzen.
Onze zuider buren .. der Belgen dus ... die zijn al 3 dagen lang de gast heren voor de
ultieme ene plek voor een ticket voor de reguliere seizoen van de THY EuroLeague.

De team van Telenet Oostende zijn de gastheren in hun eigen hal De Sleuyter waar dus
de kwalificatie wedstrijden waren onder de noemer van TAE Qualifaying Round waar dus
8 team`s mee deden.

Heden dag als ik deze schrijven met jullie mee deel was de halve finales aan de gang
waar de team van Telenet Oostende in de eerste wedstrijd op Diensdag  hun wedstrijd
verloren van ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne die op Vrijdag avond de Finale speelt tegen
Unics Kazan.

Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds underway

The Round 1 of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds came to its conclusion on Wednesday at Sleuyter Arena in Ostend, Belgium, as Hapoel Jerusalem and Unics Kazan won their battles to move on into the semifinals. The two teams join French sides ASVEL Lyon and Strasbourg in keeping alive the dream of snagging the 24th and final ticket to the 2014-15 Euroleague Regular Season. The win-or-go-home competition continues with the semifinals on Thursday, with Unics playing Jerusalem, while ASVEL and Strasbourg will face each other in an all-French semifinal. The finale is scheduled for Friday night.

In Wednesday’s late game, Unics survived a comeback from Stelmet Zielona Gora, holding on to 90-86 victory. Curtis Jerrells and Keith Langford each scored 22 points for Unics which led by 10 points entering the fourth quarter, but needed to make all its free throws in the final minutes to fight of a comeback from Zielona Gora and Steve Burtt Jr. who finished the game with 30 points. Earlier Wednesday, Hapoel Jerusalem defeated CEZ Basketball Nymburk 94-84, after taking control of the game in the second quarter, and using a 19-2 run in the third to open up 69-46 lead. Nymburk rallied behind triples from Tre Simmons, but never got closer than 6 points the rest of the way. Bracey Wright finished with 22 points in victory, leading six scorers in double figures. Joseph Jones had 16 points plus 8 rebounds, and Derwin Kitchen had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. In the tournament opener on Tuesday, Strasbourg led from start to finish, dismissing VEF Riga 53-82, as Ali Traore and Antoine Diot each scored 15 points. In Thursday’s semifinals, Strasbourg will face ASVEL Lyon which ousted host Telenet Ostend 77-86. Edwin Jackson scored 13 of his 20 points in the fourth-quarter, and Amara Sy tallied 23 points and 10 rebounds to pace the winners
