DUMERC SPRINGS SURPRISE BY QUITTING TANGO BOURGES

9. Celine Dumerc (Bourges Basket)
Celine Dumerc has had 11 seasons playing for Bourges Basket
Les Bleues star Celine Dumerc has confirmed the shock news that after more than a decade with Tango Bourges Basket, she will be moving to Basket Landes in the summer.
Renowned around the globe as a world-class playmaker and having delivered silverware for both club and country, including carrying France to an Olympic Final four years ago in London, the Bourges captain will leave at the end of the current campaign.
A colossus in the women's game and playing in her eleventh season at the club, interjected by a two-season stint with UMMC Ekaterinburg, her departure is going to leave an immeasurable void and will signal the end of an era.
Quite how Bourges will turn the page remains to be seen, but Dumerc is eager the last and final chapter of her time at Bourges will be a winning one.
She said, "I will no longer be here next season and I have made the decision to leave the club for Basket Landes.
"It is of course very difficult to leave a club where I have spent eleven seasons, but I had to make a quick decision so it is clear to everyone.
"The most important thing for me now is to go for this 14th [LFB] title and I want to finish as part of the team that brings home the title.
Celine Dumerc (France)
Celine Dumerc will once more lead France in the upcoming EuroBasket Women 2017 Qualifiers next week
"We also have the Coupe de France to try and win."

Her words were accompanied by a tweet which stated, "I decided to go for a new challenge next year, it is with great emotion that I leave Bourges after 11 seasons."
While inevitably disappointed, Bourges put a thank-you message immediately on their website.
The timing of the decision and announcement is interesting as the club are fighting to make it to the EuroLeague Women Quarter-Finals - something that will be determined this week.
Intriguingly, if they don't make it, then they could drop into the last eight of EuroCup Women and that could mean a clash with Basket Landes which would certainly generate huge interest.
Landes have certainly caught one of the biggest fish possible with this spectacular signing and their fans will be thrilled at what lies in store for the next two seasons.
Although, before they can revel in seeing her donning a Basket Landes vest, Dumerc will firstly lead her country in this month's EuroBasket Women 2017 Qualifiers and then also on home soil at the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Nantes.
And, if France do make it to Rio then the spotlight
