EuroLeague Women

EuroLeague Women Final Four 2016 logo

Vallaahhh ... Vallahhaaa .. Billaahh.

Nouuuuuu .... geloof me de tweede wedstrijd in deze serie Play Off  wedstrijd is op Donderdag avond in dezelfde Arena en het gaat weer hutjeeeeeee mutjeeeeeeeeee beeeetje vol zijn daar in den Ulker Sports Arena.

Dan een dag later is de Final Four van EuroLeague Women aan de beurt in Istanbul en dezelfde Ulker Sports Arena is the place to beeeeeeeee.

Nouuuuu ome Poetin en Seeerggeee ... Krilenko ...eehhh excuses ... Mr. Krilenko .. the  president off Russian basketball federation .... you can do every thing ... but  it is the place to bee.

DIKEOULAKOS READY TO FEEL THE HEAT

EUROLEAGUE WOMEN
By Paul Nilsen

If expectation was already high for Fenerbahce as they look to finally claim an elusive first EuroLeague Women title, it's been bumped even higher for head coach George Dikeoulakos and his players after they won the honour to host the prestigious event.

DEAL WITH PRESSURE OR HIT THE PLAYSTATION
Nadezhda Head Coach George Dikeoulakos
George Dikeoulakos is no stranger to season-ending tournaments, seen here coaching Nadezhda at the Final Eight in Ekaterinrburg in 2014
In danger of always being seen as the bridesmaid and never the bride, after successive Final losses in 2013 and 2014, it could be argued that Fenerbahce will never have a better opportunity to complete what has proven an elusive quest so far.
One of the most respected coaches in the women's game and with one of the best track records around, Coach Dikeoulakos is hoping to mastermind a landmark triumph and is ready to thrive on the sky-high hopes of the locals in Kadikoy.
"Well honestly I don't know about any other pressure than the one that I put on myself every day to be 100% perfect at the next practice and then at the next game," mused the play-caller.
"As I say to my players, that's life in big clubs and if you can't handle pressure, you should go and play on a playstation - but if you remain, then you will be able to fight at the top level until the end.
"I don't actually see that there is any special pressure on me or any of the players to win the trophy.
"That's because we have not suddenly become the favourites for the title - but I believe that nobody actually is."

FAMILIAR FRIENDS AND FOES
Fenerbahce head coach Roberto Iniguez
Back in 2014 when Dikeoulakos was running Nadezhda, their head coach now, Roberto Iniguez, was in charge of Fenerbahce
If Dikeoulakos thinks this year's edition of the Final Four is wide-open, then so too will his Semi-Final opponents Nadezhda, who are coached by ex-Fenerbahce coach Roberto Iniguez.
Throw in the fact that Dikeoulakos made a move back to Istanbul last summer after spending a couple of years at the helm of Nadezhda and it's barely surprising the spotlight is currently shining firmly in the direction of both play-callers.
"I think that when the game comes, all the focus will eventually be on the players and not on us," declared Dikeoulakos.
"With Roberto [Iniguez] it's like with all coaches - I have excellent relationships, even if we don't see each other or talk so much.
"But whenever we meet, we always have a very warm conversation with many common subjects and I think that both of us are united by the fact we have tried and managed to give something more to our respective teams and tried to push them one level higher."
Dikeoulakos has certainly hit the ground running since being welcomed back to the Fenerbahce hot-seat, while Iniguez has taken Nadezhda to an historic first-ever Final Four place.
His predecessor in Orenburg is delighted.
He said, "I am very happy and I have expressed that to them.
"It's nice for a coach when he leaves from one team, to see that he left something behind and the next coach has tried to make it even bigger.
"I wanted to play against them as it's always nice and interesting to play against friends - although perhaps at a Final Four level, you can't enjoy it quite so much. But such is life.
"It was a tough decision to make to have to leave Orenburg," continued Dikeoulakos.
"I had one more year of a contract in front of me and the President had already offered me a three year extension.
"They honoured me so much and we made some miracles in the previous two years, but some personal issues forced me to take the difficult decision and leave Russia.
"At least I was able to come back to my ‘home' as I used to call Fenerbahce.
"I am just thankful that the Nadezhda President listened to my problems and released me from the contract so I could move wherever I wanted."

LOOKING FOR LADY LUCK
14. Penny Taylor (Fenerbahce)
Dikeoulakos previously led Fenerbahce to the Final Four in 2012, before star player Penny Taylor sustained an ACL injury on the eve of the Semi-Finals.
While they say you make your own luck, it's certainly the case that the last time Dikeoulakos was at this stage of the competition with Fenerbahce back in Istanbul during 2012, he was dealt a cruel hand.
"They are totally different teams and if everyone remembers, the 2012 team reached the Semi-Final unbeaten," he reflected.
"But we didn't have our best player in Penny Taylor who sustained an ACL injury the day before, plus we didn't sleep all night because of the late emotion of our win against Galatasaray.
"So if I had to mention one difference, I would say that I hope that the 2016 team is a bit luckier than the previous one.
"Nadezhda are a very good team and we need to do many things in order to beat them," added Dikeoulakos.
"But the main thing is that it all has to start from inside us, because we need to manage the stress and the pressure of playing in front of our fans - while we must also learn to control our emotions."
